1. I really love canned tomatoes. I know I'm supposed to hate them, but I just can't help myself. Ever since I discovered making salsa with canned tomatoes, I've been a goner.
2. I should spend more time contemplating some of the long term effects of my parenting choice before I implement them. For example, the whole fingernail/toothfairy thing. Frank broke off a small piece of a toenail today, and now he wants to get some cash from the toothfairy. Why did I not see this coming?
3. At some point, I need to actually put my camera software on our new computer. Everytime I want to download picture from my camera, I just think to myself, maybe another time. And that "other time" never comes. Along the same lines: music. I really need to get more music on this computer.
4. I "get" to spend the entire afternoon/evening with bunch of 8-10 year old boys. Outside. Jealous?
5. My kids are hilarious. They've never seen one of those reality competition shows. Even so they somehow managed to come up with the concept of having one of their own here in our house. They made a stage out of a step stool, and surrounded it with pilllows (for effect, or just in case you need to bail quickly off the stage and want a soft place to land???), and commenced the competition. They had numbers on paper for the judges to select, ranging from 1 to 100. One of them would stand on the "stage" and do something (dance, sing, etc), and the judges would select a score. It was highly entertaining.

I'm okay with canned tomatoes, but I much prefer fresh ones. Especially ones I can pick out of my mother's garden. And kids are funny, aren't they? Along those lines, I have been doing a "Primary's Got Talent" theme for singing time the past few weeks. They seem to get a kick out of it, especially as it involves stickers. It's pretty amazing what children will do for stickers. ;o)
ReplyDeleteI wish i could go back and erase some parenting decisions as well. Darn unintended consequences. Your kids are awesome. I'm holding up a card with 100 written on it right now.
