Sooooo... I'm trying to help Frank get ready for the science fair. No small task since they want it to be all nice and professional, but they also want all the work to be the student's. I'm pretty sure kindergartners are not capable of "nice and professional". Most of them can barely read. I'm trying to keep the presentation part mostly pictorial, but seriously, it is a lot of hard work to do a project that is exclusively the student's work. No wonder they have that clause. I bet before they added that rule, 98% of the projects were exclusively parent work with some minor student supervision. Frank's project is pretty fun, though I'm not entirely certain how scientific it is. I'll post more about it after we've finished hashing out all the details, but here's a quick picture of the aftermath of our first set of "experiments":
That's packing peanuts, by the way. After we had finished up the real portion of the experimenting, we filled the wind tunnel (fan with slightly modified dry cleaning bag taped on) with packing peanuts and had ourselves a little snow storm. It was pretty fun.
In other news, I got this for $7.50. Seriously. (Sorry, we ate one package before I took the picture.)
Do you ever finally download the pictures from your camera and find a bunch of random pics that your kids have taken. I do every single time. I found this gem today, among the hundreds of blurry pictures of toys, Legos, and Elise. There were even a few blurry pictures of Frank that I'm going to have to attribute to Aiden because I just don't think Elise has the camera figured out yet. At any rate, apparently I was even in the room when all the picture taking action was happening. I guess I should pay attention a little more.
And finally, a picture, courtesy of Frank(?), that shows Elise's lovely new haircut (see previous post). It's a little choppy, but who really cares. Certainly not Elise. In fact, she seems very pleased.

the science fair project looks fun. And Elise is so cute that she can pull off the chopped bangs look, no problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bad mom...I kept the science fair a secret when I saw the flyer. I just knew Alex would be so into it, but that I would end up doing it all.
ReplyDeleteI also love that picture of you. Did you get a piano??
Concerning the science fair, what Beka said. Only now Bennett's heard about it, so he came home Friday all excited and wanting to start a project because, you know, he's a scientist, but I'm pretty sure we're too late to sign up. Also, I'm glad you got that sweet deal on strawberries, since I got to partake. Thanks for the yummy strawberries and dip. Also, I didn't notice anything amiss with Elise's hair today.
ReplyDeleteyou are a much better mom than I...I knew I would be one of those moms you referred to who were doing the whole project, because neither of my kids acted terribly motivated...so I told them "NO WAY!" Mother of the year.
