I was really dreading spring break. Really. I'm used to Frank being gone all morning. More importantly, I do a lot better when I have a specific schedule. Otherwise I tend to sleep longer than I should, let my kids wear pajamas all day, etc.
Despite my anxieties, spring break ended up being, dare I say it, fun. It's actually been nice having Frank around. And we did some fun things this week. I'm starting to feel a little better about the prospect of a three month long summer.
We started the week with marathon errand running. Frank didn't love it so much, but I ended up finding some really really great deals by accident (being in the right place at the right time has its perks). It always makes me feel so nice when I can find a great deal. The coolest deal I got was that I stumbled upon a Dyson on a Target clearance end cap. It wasn't ticketed, so I grabbed it to scan, just in case it happened to be a good deal. It was! I got a Dyson, which I have been wanting for a really long time, for $200! I really love it so far, so Happy Birthday Shelly!
Wednesday was my birthday. What better way to spend your birthday then eating out? We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel, and then didn't need any lunch because we ate too much at breakfast, and then had dinner at Cafe Rio. It's a lot of eating out, but it was my birthday, and I do love food so much (too much).
Thursday, I took the kids to a Relief Society mommy and me activity. They had planned to do an Easter egg hunt. While the girl in charge was reading the kids a story, she sent me outside to hide the eggs. Our church house only has one little patch of grass, so I hid the eggs there, and in the rock areas immediately around it. After I hid all the eggs I headed back inside, and the kids all did a little craft. Then we headed outside to hunt for eggs. As I rounded the corner of the building, I was pleased to see the sprinklers had turned on. In the middle of the day. During the rainiest part of the year. Come on. So 80% of the eggs were soaking wet. The kids were all just sort of staring at the water, wondering if they were supposed to go in the water. So I sacrificed myself and ran through the sprinklers collecting eggs, and bringing them to the rock area so the kids could collect them. By the time I had collected all the wet eggs, I was sopping wet from head to toe.
After changing into dry clothes, Elise and I spent a few hours at the park with friends. She had a lot of fun, and I quite enjoyed keeping track of only one child. (Frank had opted to stay home with Aaron). That evening we went over to the Brickey's house for a little birthday party for me. It ended up being a very fun day.
Friday, we went to Zions. We ate lunch in the canyon, but it was a little muddy, so we headed up to the overlook trail, figuring it might be a little drier. And it was, though there were still quite a few muddy spots. Frank really loves that hike, most especially the precarious little bridge. It does have a few nerve wracking spots, and it really makes Aaron nervous. I was afraid Frank would just complain the whole time, since lately he complains about walking home from the bus stop ("Mom, you should have brought the car, it's too far..."), but he did great!
Saturday, I went to lunch with my friends (always wonderful), and my kids were over at my mom's house all day. Around 3:30 or 4:00, she brought Elise home, but Frank didn't want to come. He was having way too much fun constructing a Lego city. They both had so so much fun. Elise was just giddy when she got home.
So that's what we did for spring break. I didn't really take any pictures. Maybe next time.

I'm glad that your spring break was good. It should have been good for somebody at least! I hated it, quite honestly. The day at the park was nice, but the rest, not so much. SO dreading the summer, and SO excited for school tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday Shelly!! We have the Dyson Animal and we love it! They are the BEST vacuums. :) Glad you had a fun week with your kids.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a good time! Happy Birthday to you! Isn't it such a motherly thing to get excited over a vacuum? I got mine on Black Friday, and I was totally stoked to get it. :o)
