So tonight I was just thinking about math. Sometimes I do that. And my mind meandered to the Math dept at the U, and I had some pretty cool teachers there. The second* nicest thing about being a math major is that there aren't very many (math majors, that is), so you really know the whole math faculty. And they really know you. I think there were like 12 people who graduated in math the year I did. So yada yada yada, I was thinking, and then all the sudden I realized, that despite taking lots and lots of math classes (usually at least 3 per semester), I have no actual memory of taking a math test in college. I remember lots of physics tests. I remember taking architecture tests, I even remember taking the math GRE (I'm not counting this because it wasn't for a class). Did we have tests? I can't say with certainty that we did. I assume we probably did. Very strange. And that my friends is just one small example of the things I waste my time thinking about.
* The very nicest thing about being a math major is that you get to learn lots and lots of math. Just in case you were wondering.

What happened to the "mind like a steel trap?"
ReplyDeleteToo much math, I tell you . . . though Sid would be proud.
