My mom sort of inherited my grandpa's boat. He bought it in 1972 I think. It's been a good boat, and I have probably a million childhood memories involving that boat. A good portion of those memories involve serious sunburns, but I guess that's a little off topic, and now we all know the value of sunscreen. The past few years the boat has been out of commission, due to hydraulics problems among other things. The boat has now finally been awakened from it's long slumber in the garage...
The above picture helps me to understand "hunter orange" a little bit better.
Anyway, the boat is fixed, so we took it out for a test drive. It was not an especially warm day, so there weren't many people out on the lake. The kids drove a lot.
Frank liked to drive in circles, which made me slightly ill. In fact, they were all crazy drivers. Frank was also a fan of the throttle, which caused more than a few minor injuries when Elise and Isaac weren't fully prepared for an abrupt change of speed. It was really fun to be out on Grandpa's boat again, and I look forward to fishing this coming summer. Maybe waterskiing, too, if I'm feeling brave.
More pictures from our little lake trip:
It was fun to watch the kids playing near the dock while they were getting the boat on the trailer. As a child, I spent a lot of time playing near the dock while the boat was being loaded/unloaded. Good times.
