Elise: "We are going swimming after lunch."
Me: "Yes, that's right, after lunch we are going swimming." (she's at that age where she needs verbal confirmation that you have understood exactly what she is saying...)
Elise: (looks at me in a rather scathing way) "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to the mouse!"
Me: "The mouse?"
Elise: "Yes, I'm talking to the mouse." Pause. "Mouse, we are going swimming after lunch." (looking very very pleased with herself)
I have no idea which mouse she was referring to, nor do I fully understand why the mouse was interested in our afternoon schedule.

That would be cool if there really was a mouse she was talking too. Then again I hate mice. Love how cute Elise is though.
ReplyDeleteI love this! Aren't their imaginations so cool?
ReplyDeleteANd as per your previous post, When you figure out what you're doing right you'll have to update me. I try to tell myself that they're at their worst around me, so I shouldn't worry that their throwing major tantrums at school, but I'm still waiting for the phone call informing me that Alex bit a classmate or something. Anyway, we probably shouldn't be too hard on ourselves. We're all doing our best, right? Do you think I can use that as an excuse at his parole hearing in 20 years?
