You know that stage in moving where everything is put away, but then (daily) there is some elusive thing you can't find anywhere, and you can't imagine where you might have put it? We're in that stage. Today, the elusive thing is the camera USB cable. I have pictures I want to post, but alas, they are stuck on the camera.
We went to Zion today for a little light hiking. I don't love Zion in the summer, primarily because of the shuttle thing. I acknowledge that it is better than the insane traffic/parking issues that would otherwise happen during the summer, but it is a challenge with small children. By the time we got to the trail head, Frank and Elise already felt like they'd been on an epic journey. With the drive from St. George, two shuttle rides, a walk across a really cool bridge, and seven shuttle stops, who can blame them? About ten feet into the River Walk trail, Frank starts spouting off with things like,"My legs are tired" and "How long is this hike?" Elise's two cents: "Carry you." In case you don't follow, that means I carry her, not she carries me. About 20 feet into the hike, Frank stages a protest in which he plants himself in a shady spot and declares he will not go on. Despite all this, we did eventually make it to the end of the trail, and I think we all had a good time.
Later on, Aaron and I were able to ditch F&E, and we went out to dinner. I love it when we have an excuse to eat good food without children around. Don't get me wrong, I love my children, but I also have a soft spot for yummy food. This particular night, Aaron and I both had the braised beef & tortellini at Olive Garden. I've been thinking about the braised beef since I was at the Olive Garden for dessert with the girls on Thursday... It was totally yummy, everything I hoped it would be.
Now if only I could find the camera cord...

Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy Anniversary! I guess it was 9 years ago that Shauna and I were in the MTC and you got married without us. Oh well; I suppose I have forgiven you. :o)
ReplyDeleteRemember..I have the same camera...maybe I'll remember to bring/send it to you since I couldn't tell you the last time I even took a picture.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! I'm glad you got a night out...those have become so rare for us. I completely understand the joy of eating without children. Not that I ever get to do it, I just understand that it's truly amazing...so I've heard.
