So here it is, my almost finished pinata:
I think his cheeks are too pudgy, but it will have to do. I used the info here. She gave really detailed instructions, which made it super easy (but still very time consuming). I'm going to add some yarn to his mustache and eyebrows, and then he'll be completely finished. Here's a picture of Mario for comparison:
Now that I'm a pinata expert, I think I could make it look even more like Mario next time (this is our second year in a row with a Nintendo type theme, so I'm thinking it might go on and on and on...).
And here are the invitations:
Aren't they cute? Each one had a note inside with the party info, and some chocolate coins. Frank was quick to remind me that, in real life only the yellow boxes contain coins, but for party purposes it would be okay if I included coins in all the colors. Isn't it generous of him to allow me to deviate from real life a little?

Holy cow that looks AMAZING!! You did a most excellent job on the pinata. I don't think I'll ever branch out from a balloon wrapped in paper mache but if I do, I'll be calling for pointers.
ReplyDeleteStrong work! I had no idea you were making such a crazy-cool piñata!
ReplyDeleteThe invitation is adorable, and your pinata makes me feel like a slacker. I may have already told you that since I failed to find a zombie pinata for Bennett's birthday, I just bought a disco dancer and plan to put some blood and stitches on him.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pinata and invitations!! Once again, I bow before your craft prowess.
ReplyDeleteso awesome! You are a rock star! This party is already fantastic, and it hasn't even happened yet! Can't wait!
