We took our kids to the symphony tonight. It was a "Wild Wild West" something or other theme, so we thought Frank & Elise would probably like it. A good portion of the senior citizens of southern Utah showed up too!
The concert was really good, and the kids did great! They were perfect the entire first half. At intermission, we asked them if they were finished and wanted to go home, but Frank really wanted to stay, and therefore Elise wanted to stay too. The Symphony had a old school western band playing with them. They wore cowboy hats and purple shirts, so Frank and Elise referred to them as "The Purple Cowboys." One member of the band played the William Tell Overture on a mandolin and it was fantastic! They played a few banjo numbers, too. Hurray for the banjo!
Second half was a little more sketchy for the kiddos. Elise just doesn't have the stamina to make it through a 2.5 hour concert. She got wiggly and kept wanting to talk, but soon decided that laying on the floor under the chairs would be fun, and spent the rest of the concert there. Hopefully it's not too dirty under there? It was dark, I couldn't tell... Frank really enjoyed the whole thing, and was perfectly behaved the entire time, but he really was getting tired by the end. We didn't end up making it home until around 10:20 pm, which is super late for them. Tomorrow I'll probably pay dearly for keeping them up so late.
p.s. Elise is not a super big fan of crescendos.
